INSTALLATION

1.                  Dig 12-inch wide flat bench across slope (pile dirt on uphill side).  A gas powered     cultivator can be used to loosen dirt and roots.

2.                  Place wattle on bench with apron uphill and GATOR GUARD label upright.

3.                  Staple apron approximately every 3-feet (approximately 2-inches from edge of apron).         [See figure]

4.                  Place 1 to 2-inches of dirt on apron and compact with your feet.

5.                  For natural channel areas on slopes, run the wattle slightly uphill into the channel (this            will direct the water and sediment over more wattle length, reducing sediment overflow).

6.                  To connect two wattles, place end of second wattle inside sleeve of first wattle and   straighten both aprons.  [See figure].  Pull sleeve tightly over second wattle and staple             in two places (through sleeve and both aprons).

7.                  To cut wattle, shake stuffing from desired cut location, insert two cable ties through   inside of apron and around wattle about 6-inches apart and tighten.  Cut fabric with      scissors and seal cut fabric with a lighter or torch.

8.                  For concrete truck washout area, place wattle in a circle.

MAINTENANCE

1.                  Repair cuts with caulk.

2.                  Inspect and clean out excess sediment after each runoff event.

3.                  If channeling occurs under the wattle, fill channel, re-staple apron and replace and     compact dirt over apron.

4.                  Dispose of wattle properly if broken, deteriorated or no longer needed.

REMOVAL / RE-USE

1.                  Carefully remove dirt and staples to avoid tearing or fraying fabric.

2.                  Remove weeds and seeds before transport to another site.
